Overall, the chart reveals a noticeable trend towards higher female enrolment across most subjects, with Philosophy showing the most significant gender disparity. Arts and Design is the only subject where male students slightly outnumber their female counterparts.
In detail, the subject of Linguistics shows a total enrolment close to 420 students, with females constituting approximately 240 and males around 180. English Language and Literature has the highest overall enrolment with nearly 480 students; of these, 250 are male and 230 are female. This subject appears almost balanced in gender distribution. History and Archaeology, while having a total close to 200 students, also shows a higher female participation, with about 120 females to 80 males.
On the other hand, Philosophy stands out with a stark difference in gender ratio, having 150 female students compared to only 50 males. In contrast, Arts and Design has a more balanced but slightly male-dominated enrolment with about 165 males to 150 females. In general, Linguistics, Communication and Media Studies, and English Language and Literature emerged as the most sought-after courses by both male and female students. However, with the exception of Arts and Design, all other programs had a higher representation of female students. Specifically, Philosophy had a sizable female population, making it the most skewed gender-wise.
Linguistics, English Language and Literature, and Communication and Media Studies had the largest overall enrolments, with around 400, 500, and 450 students, respectively, regardless of males and females. Among these three programs, English Language and Literature had the highest enrolment, with approximately 250 male and 230 female students. Linguistics, on the other hand, had the second-highest number of students, with nearly 180 male and 240 female students.
