Sample Answer 1

The line graph presents a comparison in the pulse rate changes between two individuals, Mabel, a 36-year-old office worker, and Albert, a 26-year-old former college athlete, as they engaged in a four-minute workout session.

From a general perspective, both individuals experienced noticeable fluctuations in their pulse rates throughout the exercise. Mabel’s pulse initially started lower than Albert’s but escalated rapidly, peaking midway through the activity. On the other hand, Albert’s pulse rate rose steadily, though his peak remained lower than Mabel's. By the end of the workout, both participants saw their heart rates decrease, though at varying levels.

In more detail, Mabel began the session with a pulse rate close to 65 beats per minute, while Albert’s initial rate was slightly higher, around 80 beats per minute. After one minute, both of their pulse rates converged to approximately 80 beats per minute. However, Mabel’s pulse increased dramatically during the second minute, reaching around 150 beats per minute, whereas Albert’s rate climbed more moderately to about 120 beats per minute at the same point.

During the third minute, both participants' pulse rates declined, with Mabel’s dropping to roughly 110 beats per minute, while Albert’s fell to 100 beats per minute. By the fourth and final minute, Albert’s pulse decreased further to 60 beats per minute, whereas Mabel’s rate fell as well but remained slightly elevated at around 80 beats per minute. This comparison in the pulse rate changes reveals distinct cardiovascular responses between the two individuals across the exercise period.

Sample Answer 2

The graph illustrates a comparison in the pulse rate changes between two individuals—Mabel, a 36-year-old office worker, and Albert, a 26-year-old former college athlete—during a four-minute exercise session.

Overall, the pulse rates for both participants fluctuated throughout the exercise period. Although Mabel started with a lower pulse rate than Albert, her pulse increased significantly and peaked higher at the midpoint of the exercise. In contrast, Albert's pulse rate rose steadily but remained below Mabel’s peak rate before both individuals’ pulse rates decreased toward the end of the session.

In detail, Mabel’s initial heart rate was around 65 beats per minute, which was notably lower than Albert’s starting pulse of approximately 80 beats per minute. After one minute, both participants' pulse rates aligned at about 80 beats per minute. However, by the two-minute mark, Mabel’s pulse surged sharply to around 150 beats per minute, while Albert’s pulse rate increased more gradually, reaching only about 120 beats per minute.

During the third minute, Mabel’s pulse decreased to roughly 110 beats per minute, whereas Albert’s pulse also dipped slightly to precisely 100 beats per minute. By the end of the four-minute period, both participants experienced a decline in their heart rates. Albert’s pulse dropped significantly to 60 beats per minute, while Mabel’s pulse rate also fell but remained slightly higher at about 80 beats per minute.

Sample Answer 3

The line graph illustrates a comparison in the pulse rate changes between two individuals—Mabel, a 36-year-old office employee, and Albert, a 26-year-old former college athlete—over a four-minute period of exercise.

In general, the heart rates of both participants fluctuated during the exercise session. While Mabel initially had a lower pulse than Albert, her pulse increased sharply to reach its highest point halfway through the workout. Albert, by contrast, experienced a more moderate rise in pulse rate, with his peak staying lower than Mabel’s. Toward the end of the session, both individuals' pulse rates decreased significantly, although the extent of the drop differed.

Focusing on the details, Mabel began with a heart rate of around 65 beats per minute, while Albert's was approximately 80. At the one-minute mark, both participants showed similar pulse rates, converging at roughly 80 beats per minute. By the second minute, Mabel’s pulse surged dramatically to 150 beats per minute, whereas Albert’s heart rate rose steadily, peaking at around 120 beats per minute.

In the third minute, both individuals saw their pulse rates decline. Mabel’s pulse dropped to about 110 beats per minute, while Albert’s decreased to 100. By the fourth minute, Albert's heart rate fell further to 60 beats per minute, while Mabel's pulse also decreased but remained higher at roughly 80 beats per minute. This comparison in the pulse rate changes highlights distinct cardiovascular patterns between the two participants during the workout session.
